About Us
The Rotary Club Madras South is the second Rotary Club in Chennai chartered in the year 1960. The Club is a mix of youth and experience, from businessmen to professionals, and given Rotary 4 Governors. The Club is known for projects including Little Hearts, Computer Donation, Elocution Contest and School Scholarships.
The Rotary Club of Madras South is Chennai’s second Rotary club, chartered nearly 60 years ago on 30th June 1960. The Club logo is the image of 'Gandhi Mandapam', a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi built in the year 1956 at Adyar, Chennai. It symbolises what the Club stands for and the then geographic coverage South of Madras. The club celebrated its diamond jubilee with eclat in 2019-20. Apart from events throughout the year, a grand celebration was held on 29 February 2020. The club has 62 members, has given Rotary four Governors over the years, and is a cosmopolitan mix of youth and experience, of businessmen and professionals from a variety of disciplines.
RC Madras South is one of the stand-out clubs of RI 3234. It owes its status and reputation to hundreds of service projects over the years, some of them unique; to distinctive fellowship -- through model club meetings, family participation events and out-of-town picnics; to first-rate speakers at weekly meetings; and to contributions in various ways to Rotary International and the district to which the club belongs -- most recently RI 3232, earlier RI 3230.
The club’s history has been well documented.
